Time for a Blog Give-Away!

I'm a little late arriving to the blogging party, and I'm amazed by the wonderful things I've seen and read. The Blogger Reading List is the coolest thing since the rotary cutter. It's like having my favorite quilting magazine delivered to me every day! I can't wait to get home from work to see what everyone is doing, sewing, and chatting about.

As promised, I'll be giving away a copy of my new book, Scrap-Basket Surprises, published by Martingale & Company. Just leave a comment to enter. Just any old comment will do, but it would be great if you could tell a little something interesting about yourself. (Now would be a good time to come clean about how many UFOs you're "working on," or tell about your favorite fabric hiding places!) If you mention the give-away on your blog, you'll be entered twice. Come back Monday afternoon to see if your confession was worthwhile!

Enter me twice! I've posted about your new book even if it whittles away my chances of winning...
Something about me....traveled and have lived in other countries due to husband's military career. Quilting has been a passion for many years and I consider a wonderful stress reliever.

I just happened across your blog and I would love to be entered in your give-away for your scrap-basket surprises book. I usually "hide" new fabric in plain sight. My DH has no idea what's in my sewing room and I'm going to keep it that way.

Wendy said...

What a awesome blog you have. Quilting is my passion and I must sew, stitch or play with fabric somehow everyday to get my fix. I don't hide my fabric and my room is over flowing. Thanks for a fantastic giveaway.

I came over from Quilt Hollow and have enjoyed looking at your blog. I would love to be included in the give-away! I have a scrap basket 3 feet deep, so that is one book that would be put to good use! I mostly take on small projects -- totes and the like. Feel free to visit me at:

What a great blog! I just found you today thanks to Quilt Hollow. I discovered quilting 15 years ago and haven't stopped "collecting" since. Some of my UFO's are almost as old as my hobby!

Please enter me....Mary at Quilt Hollow sent me! Something about me....I used to own a quilt shop...briefly....it can wear a person out pretty quickly but I met some of the nicest people, many that have become lifelong friends. But that also means I have a large stash that I need to get rid of. You're book sure would help (hint, hint)

Anonymous said...

I am recently "empty nest" and the urge to get back to quilting is strong. I don't have a big stash since I was focused in a different direction for the last 13 years. I have come to really like the scrappy look and would like to explore that. Your book looks excellent and I would enjoy winning a copy.

Mary on Lake Pulaski said...

Your book looks like something I could use in lowering my stash level. Interesting about me - adjusting to retirement was never a problem due to my quilting addiction!

Teri said...

I love the cover quilt. I hope the rest of the quilts inside are just as fabulous. I hate to reveal this, but I have more than 30 UFO's. This has been dubbed my year to finish things - I have a goal of 10.

Mary sure have sent a lot of us over....And Im glad she did ..so we all could find your wonderful blog... :o)
Im Stina from the north of Sweden.. and I dont have UFO at all... lol..do you believe me.. Please Dont!! And I dont want to count them either...:o)
And my best hiding place for new fabrics... is in my laundry basket... never ever a look is in that one.... accept for me...:o)
I just love scarappy quilts.. I really have trouble using the same fabric twice!!! Good luck to all..I will add your giveaway to my sidebar!!! Right now..:o)

Hi! I would love to win your book. . .because I certainly have enough fabric at home to make probably every design in it! he he he

I don't have to hide fabric. . .my DH is very willing to have me buy fabric since it is my only "money" vice. . .but it also allows him access to fabrics that he would not have picked for his own stash!! he he

Just found your blog via Quilt Hollow's give away link and I've added it to my Favorites. I can tell from the Sneak Peak pictures of the quilts in your new book that this book is right up my alley. I am a scrap quilter through and through and have bins and drawers of pre-cut strips and squares just waiting to be used in a quilt. My favorite fabrics to work with are batiks, but I have a healthy stash of homespuns and quilting cotton fabrics as well. I don't have a blog, but spend plenty of time reading everyone else's LOL.

Thanks for the giveaway!

Good luck with it.

Hmmm...quite a few coming from Carol (Cornfield Quilter), but I actually haven't had a chance to read her latest post yet; instead I came over from Angela (Scraphappy) (SORRY CAROL)!

But.......you stated:
It's like having my favorite quilting magazine delivered to me every day! I can't wait to get home from work to see what everyone is doing, sewing, and chatting about.I hadn't ever thought of it that way before, but you SURE are right! And I love give-aways, because EVERYONE posts about giveaways and these blog addy's start coming out of the woodwork! I've enjoyed sifting through your latest posts.....lovely, lovely, lovely!

Thankfully some of us are involved in a "UFO Challenge" where we attempt to finish of a UFO monthly. I've done okay having completed a UFO for January, March and April. (My February challenge is a STITCH in my side and it'll remain sitting for a long time yet...)

As for hiding places for fabric:.....oooooh! Not a good thing to admit, but I have a box here, a box there, a couple-too-many other boxes everywhere, a basket here, a basket there.....(you get my drift??) all with donated fabric from my mother's garage-sale and auction finds. (I LOVE her dearly for all her generosity!) I, in return, attempt to find time to make quilts to donate to the church.....

I'm excited for the opportunity to win your book; I have become a full-fledged scrap-quilter. They are so colorful, creative, and resourceful!
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

I haven't given in to my desire to buy books for soooo long! This would be a great win! I have a tub of scrap pieces and every month I enter a block lotto to use some of them up...they multiply into smaller pieces mostly :) I'd love to read this book and glean ideas for more scrap quilts.

I am new to scrap quilting, although I've been making quilts for about 8 years, and I got here by trying one jelly roll, loving the effect, then using another, and another.........until finally I had the courage to really use scraps of my own.

The book looks like it would be great! I love scrappy quilts. Thanks for the chance to win a copy. Something about me...I started quilting around 1997, kept taking breaks from it (silly me, I went and had 2 kids!), but now I'm slowly trying to get back to it. Add me to the "You don't want to know how many UFO's I have" list. Definately in the double-digits. I think I've only completed 7 quilts (nothing bigger than a baby/lap quilt) in that time, so you get the idea! But quilting is definitely my passion.

Do you know what I mean about getting distracted....well so much for confessions......as long as I am still loving quilting I will keep trying to get those UFO's done. I just love the process...

Your book looks wonderful! THanks for the giveaway! I'm just getting back into quilting after a very long break. I have lots of odds and ends old project to finish as well as many new ones in progress and even more I can't wait to start!

I found you because of Mary at Quilt Hollow. I ~wish~ I had hiding places for my fabric since I'm messing it up constantly. I'd love to win.
Thank you for the chance.

I would love to be added to the drawing! Today I quilted, bound, washed and dried a table topper - the first time I've ever managed to do all that in a single day! Yay me!

Please enter me. I know last minute and all. I somehow manage to quilt with my two little ones, but am currently making a quilt for my son, an apron for my mom, bib & burpcloth sets for my sister-in-law, and have a million projects still in my head. :P

How wonderful it would be to win your giveaway. I am constantly looking for inspiring designs to help reduce my scrap basket. But it seems like it's always running over the brims in what ever container I'll try to store them in. Love to check out this book!

Oh, I wanted to let you know I posted about your giveaway in my blog and have a link posted back here.

But more importantly I was led here by http://cornfieldquilter-carol.blogspot.com/. While responding to a person leaving a comment on my blog I noticed another comment left by this quilter and it linked to the Cornfield quilter which linked to you. It's a small world after all. (best when sung in tune with the disney lyrics.)
