Is it just me, or do weekend days go by so much faster than weekdays?
I worked on sample blocks yesterday for an upcoming class, and I had a lot of 2 1/2" strips left over. I had seen Heirloom Creations' Jelly Roll Race a while back, and decided to sew my leftover strips this way. Instead of sewing the strips with diagonal seams, I sewed them end to end. Since I wasn't using full-length strips, my quilt is smaller, but large enough for a baby quilt.
If you haven't seen the Jelly Roll Race video, check it out.
Have a good week!

What a GREAT way to use up those leftovers!
I actually like the square ends better than the diagonals. The Kaffe style quilt I made a couple years ago is like that and it reminds me of a wood floor.
It's a pretty top Kim! I love the JR Races, such fun and a great way to get a group of quilters focused for some charity quilt making! It's true, weekends are quicker than weekdays - especially working weekdays! lol
Very, very cute...perfect way to use up those leftovers.
Weekends disappear in a second. Before you know it, you are back at work pining for the weekend!
Love your quilt. Thanks for that video. What a fun thing that race must be. I want to try it too!
The ladies look like they were having an enjoyable time. I couldn't figure out at first why 18" was cut off and thrown away but then realized that is for the offset look for the next strip coming.
I'm with Karen. Couldn't figure that out at first. Maybe not enough coffee first thing this morning! It looks like a cute baby quilt.
We actually had 2 girls in our guild make one of these out of flannel plaid strips. It turned out so cute, can't wait to see this one of yours!!
Kim, I live in Pensacola. Where do you teach classes? Would love to take one of your classes!

What a HOOT! Thanks, Kim!
Cheers!
Is the upcoming class at A and E? I'm in. I hope I hear about it soon. I asked this weekend and they didn't know any dates!
What a great idea for a quilt! May have to fly with the idea for a couple "left overs" that I have :) Thanks, Kim, for sharing!!
One of my friends did a jelly roll race and won. I think that's just a really fun idea and it makes a pretty good quilt!
Love the video but why throw away 18"? I have no sound card on my computer right now so maybe I am missing the explanation. Ah well.
I started a jelly roll quilt this evening, too! Like you, I sewed the strips end to end instead of diagonal. Completed one pass, started the second and decided to pick it up tomorrow. The video made it look like fun. Can't wait to see how your baby quilt turns out :)
That looks like fun :-) Thanks so much for sharing it....it's new to me! This week flew by for me.....how is it Thursday already? Not that it's a bad thing to get to the weekend faster.......I just haven't gotten much sewing lately either :-(
Beth said exactly what I was going to say but I was going to say scraps....
I always like to stop in and see what fabrics you are using and what you are doing....your choices and colors are happy and I love that. Your blog is always a happy experience! Thank you
The colors are so charming.
