Perfect Zip Bags

Don't you just love all the zipper bags floating around on Pinterest and Flickr?  I haven't seen one yet that I didn't like.  When I decided to make one, I knew I wanted it to be pieced and quilted.  But I wanted it to be flat instead of "poofy," and I didn't want to fuss with interfacing.  So when I saw Elizabeth Hartman's post here, I was intrigued.  There was the zipper bag I had been looking for.  And a tutorial showing how she made her Weekender bag by quilting all of the sections separately.  So I ordered her Perfect Zip Bags pattern and used the tutorial to put it together (without interfacing).  The pattern has instructions for three different styles of bags in two sizes each, with options for handles.  If you're interested, you can order the instant download .pdf pattern here and start sewing your own bag now.

This one is made from scraps of Aviary by 3 Sisters for Moda.

And this one is made from tiny scraps of bright fabrics.

Hope you're having a nice weekend.

Kim

Yes, yes, yes I've seen all the adorable zippered bags on Pinterest and love each and everyone one. Sigh! I don't do zippers (doesn't matter how good the tutorial might be). I'm seriously bagophobic. LOL

Your bags are adorable, Kim. Way to go.

Love the bags! Love your book,
Scrap Basket Sensations! I'm making the Island Chain with Bali Pops for my daughter. Then I have to make another for another daughter. Both daughters seen the finished quilt at Magnolia Quiltworks, and had to have this quilt! The instructions are great and I'm loving this quilt! Can't wait until your new book comes out!

Hi Kim. I've almost finished making a quilt top of Island Chain. I found an error in the block assembly picture. It is between block 22 & 23, one of the rectangle units. The purple and green one should be turned 180 degrees.
Apart from this error, I love your books and patterns. Merantaylor

Elizabeth is rather clever like that. Your versions are lovely and these little bags are so versatile! It's a terrific way to use up scraps too.

Great bags! I love the zippered bags. I tend to shy away from zippers. That's a garment construction thing.

There was the zipper bag I needed been observing for. And a class showing how she complete her tourist bags & cases by quilting all of the units distinctly.
